Karen sat in her car with tears streaming down her cheeks, afraid to tell her children that she had cancer. She didn’t know that they would not only be supporting her through breast cancer treatments, but that they would stand by her side as she endured treatments for liver and brain cancer.

Only one year after her breast cancer was diagnosed, she began experiencing blurred vision. An MRI of the brain and liver discovered tumors that would have to be treated aggressively if Karen were to beat them. Now, three years later and after undergoing Gamma Knife radiosurgery on her brain, she is cancer free and living her life to the fullest.

Here, she shares her story and H. Warren Goldman, MD, PhD, discusses the one-two punch of Gamma Knife treatments that saved her life.
